Snotlout Jorgenson

How to Train Your Dragon 2, 2014
DreamWorks Animation continues to deliver sharp, stunning and high quality character posters. I simply love the design. Unlike Toy Story 3 where all the characters look quite the same, artists from Dreamworks have done a great job making the character more mature.

Snotlout looked like one of those 'bully' kids in the first movie, but here he looks like one of the 'cool' teenagers.

Beautiful Concept Arts for 'The Book of Life'

The creators of Free Birds are now working hard on their next project Book of Life. On 25th February Hollywood Reporter gave us the first concept art for the movie.

What I love about the first image is the the colors and shading used in the building. Jorge Gutierrez, the director, said that "the mandate of this movie was: Our 'Art of' book is going to look exactly like the movie". Yes, please, because they look beautiful!

Look at how its full of color, we should expect great animation from this movie. Book of Life opens in theaters on October 17, 2014. Are you going to see it?

An Animated Oz

I recently went to the upcoming animated feature film, Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return website and read the synopsis for the movie. Here it is:
Dorothy’s only just returned home from her first incredible journey to Oz, but she’s already being called back for another adventure! After waking to post-tornado Kanas, Dorothy (Lea Michele) and Toto are whisked to Oz on a magical rainbow mover sent by their old friends the Scarecrow (Dan Aykroyd), the Lion (Jim Belushi) and the Tin Man (Kelsey Grammer). Time in Oz has passed much faster than back in Kansas, and Dorothy discovers that the Jester (Martin Short) – the devious brother of the Wicked Witch of the West – is taking Oz over one region at a time, holding their leaders captive and casting a pall of darkness over the beloved land. Even Glinda (Bernadette Peters) is unable to combat the Jester’s evil powers, making Dorothy their only hope.
When she arrives in Oz, Dorothy’s plan is to travel to the Emerald City to reunite with her old friends and join forces with them to stop the Jester. However, the yellow brick road isn’t quite as easy to follow this time around, especially with the Jester planting tricky detours to lead her astray, so she enlists the help of Wiser the owl (Oliver Platt), Marshal Mallow (Hugh Dancy), China Princess (Megan Hilty) and Tugg the tugboat (Patrick Stewart) to help find her way.
Dorothy is grateful for the support of her new friends, but when she realizes that having them by her side means putting them all in grave danger, she has to decide whether to continue to accept their assistance or forge the road alone. But with the future of Oz at stake, it’s going to take as much heart, brain and courage as they can collectively muster to defeat the Jester and return order and happiness to the Emerald City.
What do you think about this synopsis? I don't know, it does feel just like the books of Oz (I only read the first one). This movie has been rumored (was originally titled Dorothy of Oz, to which I think is a better title) for a long time and we finally get to see it on big screens this May.
Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return, 2014
It will be great to see a musical again, you've got a love musicals. Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return opens in theaters on May 9. Anyone excited?

Rio 2, 2014
Blue Sky Studios is famous for its long run of making Ice Age franchise. They have great skills to make sequels that are successful. I have not enjoyed Rio that much. While it did have great visuals it lacked great characters. Blue Sky Studios tends to have annoying characters in every film they make.

We shouldn't expect for a good story or even memorable characters, but we should be excited to hear new music! Music is what made Rio feel Rio, and will probably make Rio 2 more likable.

Will Rio 2 turn out to be just like the Ice Age films did or do you think it'll be better than the original Rio? Are you going  to watch it comes out on April 11? Share Your Thoughts!

Review #12 | The LEGO Movie

The LEGO Movie, 2014
Synopsis: "The LEGO (R) Movie" is the first-ever, full-length theatrical LEGO (R) adventure. The original 3D computer animated story follows Emmet (Chris Pratt) an ordinary, rules- following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

I want to speak on behalf of the people who are not LEGO fans. Those of us who haven’t played LEGO as kids can be skeptical about this movie. There is a question, why is everyone so pumped up about this movie? That’s what I felt entering theaters.

So this is my brief review of it. The LEGO Movie has creative visuals and awesome action sequences. This LEGO world is very big. The LEGO Team seems to have spent great amount of time building it (great job, guys!).

As for the story, it is creative, happy and good. Flexible storylines make it more unexpected. You never know what is going to happen. Anything can happen. Despite the limitations in movement of the LEGO figures this movie has, it is full of imagination and creativity. It is the most imaginative movie in years.

Although I am not fond of LEGO and might have not laughed as hard as others did during the movie, I felt like I had a great time. I enjoyed it.

Getting Excited

Inside Out, 2015
It is so exciting to hear little bits of pieces of news from Pixar. Now, we are only a year away from Pete Doctor's Inside Out that comes out on June 19, 2015.

A few days ago I learned that Mindy Kaling, who previously worked in Despicable Me (Tourist Mom) and Wreck-it Ralph (Taffyta Muttonfudge), had a session in the recording booth as the character Disgust.

Is anyone excited?

The LEGO Movie Surprises the Critics

The Lego Movie, 2014
The second theoretical animated feature film of 2014, The Lego Movie, is getting praise from the critics! It currently has 22 fresh reviews and is (for the time being) 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. It is uncertain if it will stay 100% all the way, but it does give a surprise to some people. Here is what Rotten Tomatoes critics say about the movie -
Boasting beautiful animation, a charming voice cast, laugh-a-minute gags, and a surprisingly thoughtful story, The Lego Movie is colorful fun for all ages.
The Lego Movie assembles in theaters on February 7, 2014.

A Good Start

The upcoming animated movies are getting some early positive review on Rotten Tomatoes. The Lego Movie directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller duo currently has 1 fresh review on Rotten Tomatoes. Peter Debruge from Variety says:
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller irreverently deconstruct the state of the modern blockbuster and deliver a smarter, more satisfying experience in its place, emerging with a fresh franchise for others to build upon.
My most anticipated movie of 2014, Mr. Peabody & Sherman currently has 2 fresh reviews from Rotten Tomatoes. Mark Adams from Screen International says:
An action-packed animated romp that will attract - and maybe even educate - a young audience, and might even strike a chord with reluctant older adults who recall the original cartoons from the 1960s.
And Andy Lea from Daily Star says:
Witty, beautifully animated and surprisingly educational, DreamWorks' time-travelling adventure should impress kids and parents in equal measure.
So...anyone excited for the upcoming movies?
