Open Road Film Sets a Release Date for 'Spark'

It's been a while since Toonbox Entertainment's Spark has been announced to the public. However, I have never heard anything from it since the film debut at Toronto Animation Arts Festival International. Luckily, I had the curiosity to do some digging and found out that Open Road Films acquired domestic distribution rights for the film setting the release date on April 14, 2017.

Spark, 2017

Spark is Toonbox Entertainment's second feature film right after The Nut Job. It will be interesting to see how it turns out to be, since the first movie was a box office success for the studio. I don't know why it took so long for the movie to get a theatrical release but it seems to follow distribution problems similar to Mark Osborne's The Little Prince. Look out for two films from Toonbox Entertainment in 2017, Spark and followed by The Nut Job 2 on May 19, 2017.

Pixar on Four Original Films in 2020 and Beyond

Pixar Animation Studios president Jim Morris noted that after The Incredibles sequel in 2019, Pixar will focus on original animated feature films.

Pete Doctor, the director of Monsters, Inc., UP, and Inside Out is working on an original idea. I'm speculating that Teddy Newton (director of Day & Night) has an original project. Dan Scanlon (Monsters University) and Mark Andrews (Brave) might also be working on a original film. It is hard to say which will come first but I think its too early to discuss it.

Two original projects are dated for June 2020 and November 2020. I just hope we can get a glimpse at those projects real soon.

Wreck-it Ralph Sequel Official Announcement

Walt Disney Animation Studios officially announced a Wreck-it Ralph sequel dated March 9, 2018! With the news of the release date, Disney has released its first concept art for the film that you can have look below.

Wreck-it Ralph 2 (working title), 2018

Wreck it Ralph is one of the favourite Disney animated films of all time. It will be interesting how it will come out to be! Rich Moore, who directed the first film (and recently guided Zootopia to its billion-dollar box office), will co-direct the sequel with Phil Johnston, who co-scripted the original (with Frozen’s Jennifer Lee). Here's what John C. Reilly (voice of Ralph) has to say about the sequel: " It’s top secret but I’ll tell you this much… Ralph leaves the arcade and wrecks the Internet, what could go wrong?"

Meanwhile Disney's upcoming animated film, Gigantic, has been moved to November 21, 2018. Thus, we could see two movies from Walt Disney Animation Studios films in 2018! Get Excited.
